Devo Wrap: Eisenhart looks sharp in white

The U23 riders in USA Cycling's National Development Program (NDP) earned the white jersey at the Internationale Thüringen-Rundfahrt U23 in Germany while the mountain bikers continue to ride well with a strong performance in Italy.

After gaining and losing the Best Young Rider jersey in the early stages of the race, the group of U23 riders worked hard to regain and protect T.J. Eisenhart's (Lehi, Utah/BMC Development Team) bid to earn that distinction at Internationale Thüringen-Rundfahrt U23 in Germany. They accomplished that mission as Eisenhart finished the race in the white jersey as the Best Young Rider at the race as the 19-year-old finished sixth in the general classification.

Eisenhart scored in the time trials, finishing sixth in the prologue and seventh in the fifth stage time trial.

Jeffrey Perrin (Lakewood, Colo./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) was the contingent's next rider in the results, placing 44th, 14:15 behind the winner, Dylan van Baarle (NED), who finished the seven-stage race in 25:36:36. Paul Lynch (Colchester, Conn./BMC Development Team) completed the race 25:54 behind the winner while Tyler Williams (Shafter, Calif./BMC Development Team) was 29:59 behind Van Baarle. Alex Darville (Santa Barbara, Calif./Bontrager Cycling Team) and Torey Philipp (El Dorado, Calif./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) also contested the race.

The second Junior Development Camp of the season will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., from June 23-30.

One of the best ways to do this is by attending a USA Cycling Regional Talent Identification Camp. The primary goal of the Talent ID Camps is to recognize athletes who, at an early age, show signs of potential future success in cycling. Receiving instruction from some of USA Cycling’s finest coaches, the camps also provide the necessary framework to improve the athletes skill set thus progressing their talent development. In some cases, the Regional Talent ID Camps assist in selecting riders for international competition and/or a national development camp.
