Devo Wrap: Development riders busy with races in France and Canada
The USA Cycling National Development Program (NDP) remains extremely active with contingents contesting races on two different continents. A new group of women arrived in Europe to represent USA Cycling in France while a group of juniors road riders are just getting underway in Canada.
Women's Road
 Twenty-year-old Kaitlin Antonneau (Racine, Wis./Exergy TWENTY16), who won the U23 road race and time trial at the 2013 USA Cycling Amateur & Para Road National Championships in Madison, Wis., on July 4 and 5, led the USA Cycling contingent's effort at the Tour de Bretagne Féminin in France. Antonneau finished the four-day race in 21st place, 1:50 behind the winner, Audrey Cordon (FRA).
Beth Newell (Oakland, Calif./NOW and Novartis for MS) was the contingent's next-best rider, finishing only 17 seconds behind Antonneau in 29th place. Nineteen-year-old Alexis Ryan (Ventura, Calif./NOW and Novartis for MS), who won the women's U23 criterium after placing second in that group's road race in Madison, performed admirably in France, completing the race 2:32 behind Cordon. Ryan finished the race very strong, placing fourth in the field sprint capping the final stage of the race.
Heather Fischer (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16) completed her tasks on the team well, as she finished 8:58 behind the winner. Scotti Wilborne (Little Rock, Ark./Mellow Mushroom) finished 13:52 behind the winner
Amber Pierce (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pasta Zara-Cogeas) also contested the race as a member of USA Cycling's contingent.
Junior Men's Road
USA Cycling has sent a junior men's contingent to the Tour de l'Abitibi which began on July 15 and concludes July 21 in Canada. The USA's Ansel Dickey (Truro, Mass./KMS) rode to a strong third-place finish in Tuesday's stage one and was followed by teammate Brendan Rhim (Norwich, Vt./KMS) in fifth.
The USA Cycling team for the event is also made up of Geoffrey Curran (Tustin, Calif./Get Crackin') who was ninth in stage one, Justin Oien (Escondido, Calif./MRI Endurance) who was 29th, Wil Barta (Boise, Idaho/BYRDS) who was 46th, and Philip O'Donnell (Suwanee, Ga./Hot Tubes)who was 75th.

Want to be part of USA Cycling’s Development Program? The first step is getting on USA Cycling’s radar. One of the best ways to do this is by attending a USA Cycling Regional Talent Identification Camp. The primary goal of the Talent ID Camps is to recognize athletes who, at an early age, show signs of potential future success in cycling. Receiving instruction from some of USA Cycling’s finest coaches, the camps also provide the necessary framework to improve the athletes skill set thus progressing their talent development. In some cases, the Regional Talent ID Camps assist in selecting riders for international competition and/or a national development camp.
