Devo Wrap: Abbott wins Giro Rosa; Mountain bikers grabs podiums in Belgium and Germany
The USA Cycling's National Development Program (NDP) boasted outstanding performances last weekend as Mara Abbott (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY 16) brought home the Maglia Rosa while riding for USA Cycling. Also riding onto podiums over the weekend were mountain bikers Haley Batten (Park City, Utah/Whole Athlete-Specialized), Kaylee Blevins (Durango, Colo./Durango Devo), and Cole Paton (Cashmere, Wash.).
Women's Road
 After riding her way into the leader's jersey during stage 5 of the 2013 Giro Rosa last Thursday, Mara Abbott (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY 16) sealed her overall victory in the Italian stage race on Sunday.
The 27-year-old Abbott only lost minimal time in the final stage time trial, finishing 2:10 off the pace of the stage winner to keep the pink jersey and bring home the Maglia Rosa.
Mara gave credit to the group effort of her USA Cycling teammates. In the final classification, Andrea Dvorak (Crozet, Va./Exergy TWENTY16) placed 49th, Kristin Mcgrath (Boise, Idaho/Exergy TWENTY16) placed 73rd, Lauren Hall (Dolores, Colo./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) placed 94th, Brianna Walle (Beaverton, Ore./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) placed 97th, Lauren Tamayo (Asheville, N.C./Exergy TWENTY16) placed 101st, Ruth Winder (Lafayette, Calif./Vanderkitten) placed 102nd, and Janel Holcomb (San Diego, Calif./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) placed 116th.

Mountain Bike
 A group of 13 riders contested the Grand Prix Sankt Vith in Sankt Vith, Belgium on July 6, where Haley Batten (Park City, Utah/Whole Athlete-Specialized) won the gold medal and Kaylee Blevins (Durango, Colo./Durango Devo) won bronze in the U19 women's race.
Batten and Blevins were joined by four other USA Cycling teammates who all put forth very impressive efforts. Ksenia Lepikhina (Boulder, Colo./BMC US MTB Development Team) barely missed the podium in fourth place while Caroline Woods (San Rafael, Calif.) was sixth, India Waller (Durango, Colo./Durango Devo) was eighth, and Sara Ogden (Tiburon, Calif./Bear Development Team)was ninth.
 In the men's event in Sankt Vith, Sean Bennett (El Cerrito, Calif./Whole Athlete-Specialized) was eighth in the U19 race. He was followed over the finish line by teammates Marcus Segedin (Greenbrae, Calif./Whole Athlete-Specialized) in 12th, Landen Beckner (Helena, Mont./BMC US MTB Development Team) in 13th, Kyle Bloesser (Colorado Springs, Colo./BMC US MTB Development Team) in 15th, and Mason Seha (Austin, Texas/Team Bicycle Sport Shop) in 16th. In the men's U17 contest, Cole Paton (Cashmere, Wash.) finished 16th for the USA.
Following the Grand Prix Sankt Vith, the same group of junior riders toed the line at the Int. MTB Bundesliga-Bike Festival Saalhausen Bundesliga in Lennestadt-Saalhausen, Germany on July 7 where they made three more podium appearances.
Cole Paton was second in the men's U17 race while Haley Batten and Ksenia Lepikhina were second and third in the women's U17 race.
In the U19 women's event, Kaylee Blevins was fifth, India Waller was seventh, Sara Ogden was 11th, and Caroline Woods was 13th. Among U19 men, Sean Bennett was the fastest for the U.S. in 16th place. He was followed over the line by Tyler Berliner in 20th, Kyle Bloesser in 23rd, Landen Beckner in 33rd, Marcus Segedin in 35th, and Mason Shea in 47th.
BMX
 The second BMX Junior Development Camp was held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., June 30 - July 7.
Riders were able to experience both the Beijing and London replica tracks as they learned the unique characteristics of Supercross style racing.

The primary goal of the Talent ID Camps is to recognize athletes who, at an early age, show signs of potential future success in cycling.
