DEVO: McNulty, Team USA win l’Abitibi
(July 26, 2016) – Brandon McNulty (Phoenix, Ariz./LUX Cycling-Strading p/b Specialized) and the Team USA junior program took the individual and team classification wins at the July 19-24 Tour de l’Abitibi in Canada, continuing a decorated season with the USA Cycling Development Program.
McNulty won the third stage on July 21, where he took over the leader’s jersey until Canadian Nickolas Zukowsky threatened the GC win following Stage 6. A second-place effort in the final stage, however, clinched the overall win for McNulty in 13:46:22. Mikkel Bjerg (DEN) finished second in 13:46:57, while American Kevin Goguen (Hopedale, Mass./RACE CF) took third in 13:47:37 while riding for his trade team.
McNulty’s teammates all clocked top-20 finishes, giving Team USA the team classification win as well.
Ian Garrison (Decatur, Ga./Masters Cycling Systems) finished in 13:49:14 for eighth, Cameron Beard (Bend, Ore./Team Specialized Racing) crossed in 13:49:48 for 16th and Tyler Stites (Tucson, Ariz./El Grupo Youth Cycling) followed immediately after in 13:49:49 for 17th. Rounding out the top 20, Jules Gilliam (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Team Specialized Racing) earned 19th in 13:50:06, while Christopher Blevins (Durango, Colo./Team Specialized Racing) finished 20th in 13:50:08.

The U23 men are back in action this week at the July 27-31 Alsace in France.
