Ryan Eastman rides onto podium in Germany

USA Cycling's Junior Development Program riders contested the 3-Etappen der Rad in Germany where Ryan Eastman (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift) rode his way onto the podium in stage three. U23 road riders competed in the Feche de Sud in Luxembourg and U23 mountain bike athletes contested Bike the Rock in Germany. USA Cycling's Women's National Development Program squad is currently racing in the Tour de l'Aude in France. Some early success in the 10-day race saw the squad place fourth in the team time trial while Carmen Small (Durango, Colo./ COLAVITA-BACI p/b COOKING LIGHT) rode to third in stage three.

USA Cycling sent six juniors to the 3-Etappen der Rad in Frankfurt, Germany, May 14-16: Ryan Eastman (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift), Paul Lynch (Colchester, Conn./CL Noonan-Bay Hill), Tanner Putt (Park City, Utah/Cole Sport), Eamon Franck (Pacific Grove, Calif./Team Specialized), Juan Carmona (Breinigsville, Pa./Young Medalists-Team Dual Temp), and Nathaniel Beams (Lexington, Ky.)

Ryan Eastman posted the top results for the team, finishing third in stage three for a podium spot. The 17-year-old Eastman also rode to fourth-place in stage two and finished the event 24th overall. Paul Lynch was 41st overall while Tanner Putt was 53rd and Eamon Franck was 71st.

u23 national development program

Six U23 mountain bike athletes rode for the USA Cycling National Development Program Team in the Bike the Rock U23 event in Heubach, Germany on May 16. Stephen Ettinger (Cashmere, Wash./Arlberg Sports) posted the top result for the team in 17th-place and was followed closely by teammate Tad Elliott (Durango, Colo.) in 18th-place. Mitch Hoke (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 30th while Travis Livermon (Winderville, N.C./Cannondale) was 35th, Tristan Cowie (Brevard, N.C./Brevard College) was 40th, and Ethan Gilmour (Ludlow, Vt.) was 49th. On the road side, USA Cycling fielded a U23 team for the Feche de Sud in Luxembourg, May 12-16. The team was comprised of Larry Warbasse (Traverse City, Mich./BMC Racing Team), Charlie Avis (Palo ALto, Calif./Trek-Livestrong), Connor O'Leary (Salt Lake City, Utah/Racelab U23 Cycling Team), Cole House (Oneida, Wis./BMC Racing Team), Carter Jones (Boulder, Colo.), and Rob Squire (Sandy, Utah/Felt-Holowesko Partners). After the prologue and four stages, Larry Warbasse was the highest-ranked for the team in the GC in 65th-place. Click here for the event's website.

women's national development program

The following riders are currently riding for USA Cycling's Women's National Development Program in the Tour de l'Aude, which began on May 14: Mara Abbott (Boulder, Colo./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), Andrea Dvorak (Crozet, Va./COLAVITA-BACI p/b COOKING LIGHT), Kristin McGrath (Durango, Colo./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), Katheryn Mattis (Mountain View, Calif./Webcor Builders), Katharine Carroll (Fairfax, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), and Carmen Small (Durango, Colo./ COLAVITA-BACI p/b COOKING LIGHT).

In the stage two team time trial, the squad posted a strong fourth-place result. Then, in stage three, Carmen Small posted the third-place result for the team.
