Compton takes silver at World Cup, Haley wins juniors race in Milton Keynes

  
  


(Nov. 29, 2014) – Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Trek Cyclocross Collective) earned silver at the 2014-2015 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup #3 and Gavin Haley (Louisville, Ky./Red Zone Cycling) won the juniors race in Milton Keynes, England, on Saturday, highlighting a strong day of American cyclo-cross racing.
 
Elite Women

Compton finished second in 45:26, just fractions of a second behind winner Sanne Cant (BEL), who posted the same time. Nikki Harris (GBR) earned bronze in 45:58. Kaitlin Antonneau (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cannondale Cyclocrossworld) placed seventh in 46:27, followed 21 seconds later by Rachel Lloyd (Fairfax, Calif./California Giant Cycling) in ninth to round out U.S. top-10 finishes. Meredith Miller (Boulder Colo./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) finished 12th in 47:41, Crystal Anthony (Beverly, Mass./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) crossed 17th in 48:44 and Christine Vardaros (Wyckoff, N.J./STEVEN Cycling Team) took 37th in 54:29.
 
Elite Men
 
In elite men’s action, Jonathan Page (Northfield, NH/Fuji-Spyoptics) chalked the best U.S. men’s time of the day with a 14th-place time of 1:04:56. Kevin Pauwels (BEL) earned gold in 1:03:01, Klaas Vantornout (BEL) claimed silver in 1:03:02 and Francis Mourey (FRA) took bronze in 1:03:17. Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Rapha Focus) finished 25th in 1:06:28 and Jeremy Durrin (Easthampton, Mass./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) placed 36th in 1:09:26.
 
Juniors men
 
In non-World Cup action, Haley won the juniors men’s race at Milton Keynes, posting an impressive 41:34 mark. Arthur Green (GBR) and Thomas Craig (GBR) rounded out the juniors podium in 42:03 and 42:33, respectively.
