Brooke Crain grabs 2nd place at Supercross World Cup in Manchester

The 20-year-old Crain was fourth in her semi-final round to qualify for the final. In the main event, she grabbed the second-place position almost from the start and finished behind winner Shanaze Read (GBR) who took the victory on her home track.
"It was a rough start to the week with a bike delivery that showed up on the day of practice, but I managed to keep my head on straight and focus on the positives on and off the track which resulted in an awesome day of racing," Crain said afterwards. "I'm encouraged for the rest of the season and for making a run at the Supercross overall title and a rainbow jersey."
Merle Van Benthem (NED) grabbed the final spot on the podium in third while Americans Alise Post (Saint Cloud, Minn./Redline Bicycles) and Arielle Martin (East Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) were fourth and sixth respectively.
In elite men's racing, Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./BMX Racing Group-Chase Bicycles) won his semi-final to become the lone American in the main event. He crossed the line in fifth-place after Great Britain's Liam Phillips dominated the final for the victory. Tory Nyhaug (CAN) and Sam Willoughby (AUS) grabbed the silver and bronze medals.
