Americans earn 19 medals as BMX Worlds open on Tuesday
 
Rock Hill, SC (July 25, 2017) – American riders really took advantage of their home turf on Tuesday, earning 19 medals on opening day of the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships in Rock Hill, SC.
 
322 Americans raced on the Novant Health BMX Supercross Track as cruiser class competition took center stage on day one and culminated with the main events in 14 categories for men and women. In 12 of those groups, Team USA riders celebrated on the podium with six gold medals, six silver medals, and seven bronze medals. See below for a complete list of day 1 Team USA medalists.
 
Next on the agenda in Rock Hill are the 20” challenge class competitions. These will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday when over 700 U.S. riders are set to compete. Racing will conclude on Saturday as the world’s best fight for rainbow jerseys in the Junior and Elite World Championships. Click here for Saturday’s Team USA roster.
