Personal

Amanda Carr's love of BMX started when she was invited to a local BMX track by her older cousins and the rest, as they say, is history. Carr continued pursuing other sports as she excelled in soccer, track and field as well as weightlifting.

As her BMX career unfolded, Carr found success. She topped the podium at UCI BMX World Championships as a 15 and 16 year old before placing eighth in the Supercross in Frejus, France, in 2010. Carr's success continued through 2011 as she placed fourth at the 2011 USA Cycling BMX National Championships on the Supercross track at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Carr also earned fifth place at the 2011 BMX Olympic Test Event in London before earning a selection to the team that represented the United States of America at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Carr graduated Charlotte High with 17 varsity letters, the most earned in a four-year high school by any student at that school. She collected four letters in soccer and weightlifting, three in cross country and track and field and single letters in tennis, golf and softball in her four-year high school tenure. She continued playing soccer as a collegiate, playing one season at North Carolina State University. She played in every game as a freshman before transferring to Florida State University where she was training to be a heptathlete. She received an invitation from USA Cycling to focus on BMX, so she has put college aside while she pursues a dream of competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Carr credits her family's unconditional support for her success. When she's not on her bike, Carr is the President of Charlotte BMX, a 501 (c) 3, a member of Sunshine State BMX Association and helps coach the girls soccer and weightlifting teams at Charlotte High School.
